Lestrade comes across even more convincingly as a tough guy in this chapter because he thinks his fight is hopeless and he doesn't think his bravado will even impress anyone.
Mycroft's streak of honor makes him more interesting, but not quite enough to make me feel sorry for the mess he's gotten himself into.
