This story positively crackles. It is also not making me want The Lestrade Show any less!
I'm very drawn to stories focusing on Lestrade and Mycroft in this fandom, and this one most of all. I've finally figured out why. While the Sherlock and John stories are in one important sense inevitable, in that they are about how that partnership works, how it stays together, here we have a totally disenchanted (or I should say rather, un-enchanted) angle of entry into that universe, an uncomfortable 'relationship', a much more political one. It's a fascinating dynamic, and I want more more more of it.
